It must meet maximum limits for the Cold Cranking Simulator (CCS) viscosity at a specified low temperature (e.g., typically max 7000 cP at -25°C for some formulations) to minimize initial wear and reduce drain on the starter system.
• "40" (Hot Viscosity): This denotes the oil's kinematic viscosity at an engine's standard operating temperature of 100°C.
